An interesting thing i discovered. Land of Hope was a fairly complex RPG played in a browser, you had various skills, races and classes you could learn and lots of different things to do....however the recession hit the owner of the game fairly hard and they had to take it down.
They have replaced the game with this: http://www.hopeoffline.com/
The same game, but an offline version. Given that you do have AI monsters to attack and quests pre-programmed it is an interesting way to get hold of an RPG.
There are 2 versions, the free one gives you pretty much everything the browser game had (inluding stuff you would have had to pay for when the game was running), but you can also purchase a license which allows you to run the game on a public server and make it multiplayer if you so wish.
Admitedly I have not yet downloaded it myself to see how easy it is to install and run as a solo game....and it may be a bit dull, but from what I remember the game was certainly playable as a solo game.
Also whilst the site does have links to current "public" servers, none of them work....or at least not from my workplace...
