Minecraft: The World of Dorkeria

Welcome to the world of Dorkeria!

I began exploring on my new world and quickly found a village on a plain along the coast of a shallow lake. The village is surrounded by remarkable hills and features.

The locals have a problem though, as it gets dark they come under siege by monsters. Primary amongst them are the zombies. The shambling undead spend all night pounding on the doors of the village in hopes of gaining access to the terrified NPCs within.

I took it upon myself to secure the village and protect the people. My plan is to make a wall around the village that I will gradually build up and out from. I'll go in stages...

Stage 1: Build a wall around the village to protect it from monsters
Stage 2: Improve the wall with towers and gate houses
Stage 3: Build a keep, something that I can call home

For now I've made my home in the second floor of the "church" building in the village. This home includes a bed, chest, and workbench. I also created a mine near by where I began mining stone. Lots and lots and lots of stone. Stone enough to build the walls that will protect the village. Also I've tried to gather enough coal to fire the furnaces that would turn the cobblestone I mine into the stone blocks I would use for my walls. It was a slow process.

After hours of mining and creating stone blocks my wall started to take shape...

More mining and making of blocks increased the wall's height and width...

As you can see, I had gathered plenty of cobblestone for my construction. Eventually I had four ovens going, turning the cobblestone into stone which I turned into stone blocks. Still, it was all a slow process that took several hours to complete.

Eventually though, the walls really started to take shape, come together, and feel more complete.

Finally, the village was secure from almost all monster incursions. No longer were the villagers forced to endure long nights of zombies attempting to break down their doors. The ramparts were secure and soon the lighting would be sufficient to keep all monsters out of the village. The only threat remaining was the occasional rain storm.

I still have much I want to do for my village. I want to build a couple towers, create gatehouses at the access points, and also build a keep. I would like to push the walls out some and create an area to raise animals and more crops. I have much to do still on the village and I still have a large world to explore.

This village is in an amazing location. It is on a plain located near many biomes. Near me is a desert, a taiga forest, and a jungle. Also there are several awesome hills to be seen. Dorkeria holds a lot of promise and I hope to take advantage.
