BigDork vs Penry Game 2 - Defence of the Ville - Allied Thread

:woohoo:

We've finally got round to setting up game #2. A bit more open this time, which should favour BD. BD wanted to attack again, so I will be on the defending side once more. Let's have a look at the setup.

I went for much the same setup as last time, but I simplified it somewhat! One company (C) with 4 platoons under it - Three rifle platoons and a weapons platoon. Each rifle platoons has one bazooka squad, in case BD brings some heavy toys.
To shake things up a bit I removed the MMGs from the weapons platoon (making it a mortar only platoon) and added a HMG team to each of my rifle platoons. That should give me more flexibility and some added bite for when I make close contact with BD.
I also took the opportunity to add a Forward Observer team to my Battalion HQ as I was impressed with the grief that BD caused me with his FO team last game.
The added MG firepower and FO team meant I was unable to purchase a tank this time, so I'll be relying on grunts only for this encounter.

As you can see I have a couple of objectives to defend - two locations in the village to the south of the map. The left side of the village is defended by some high bocage, the right side by a small forest.
A road bisects the map, but is useless to BD as the bridge over the ditch in the centre has been blown.
At BDs end of the map it is pretty much flat as a pancake and divided into fields lined with high bocage.

Here's the view from behind the village, looking diagonally across the map. There are plenty of buildings for me to hide in, should I wish.

And from the other diagonal at my end of the map. Pretty open except for the forest and that low bocage.

Looking back from BDs end of the map. Little cover except for the high bocage.

And from the other corner. Likewise, not much to hide in except for those couple of buildings and a few trees.

Looking across the middle of the map from the village side. Those orchards in the centre are sure to play a part and those low stone walls might offer some cover.

And the other side looking back. BD has some good cover all the way up to the ditch, but I might be hiding out in the forest just across the other side.
